Breed Standards
The War Horse has a definitively muscular frame. The chest and hindquarters should be well muscled. While displaying his strength, the war horse needs to possess a certain grace and athletic ability in their movement. The head should be refined, but proportionate to the horse's size. The bridge should be long and straight. The eyes should be large, intelligent, and sensitive. His legs should be clearly strong, muscular, and in proportion to his body. The hooves should be large, with heavy feathering. Though feathering is not required, it should be heavy. If heavy feathering is not desired, the horse's legs MUST be bare. While the mane can be heavy and long, the tail MUST be no longer than medium length, unless it is wrapped or braided.
Only solid colors are accepted. Common colors are black, bay, chestnut, sorrel, and gray. Rare colors, such as cremello, palomino or buckskin, are accepted as long as they are a solid color. Markings should be minimal, not exceeding four socks and a bald face (A very wide blaze that covers most of the face). Dapples are allowed for certain colors such as bay, gray, palomino and buckskin. Stockings are prohibited, as well as any paint or pinto markings and roan coats.
For my fellow breeders who want to use real genetics but are no good with them:

No specific traits are required, however, typically the War Horse's temperament is as follows. He is bred to be a companion to the calvary soldier and a trusty steed. He is brave, loyal, and agile. He often bonds to one specific person and can be shy or even aggressive with others. His heavy frame and height provided his rider with the optimal advantage in battle. The War Horse genetically inherits very heavy feathering, although often for battle the feathering was trimmed as well as the tail. Though not the fastest steed around, he has a powerful jumping ability and is very surefooted. For modern use, he excels as a cross country, dressage, or general pleasure horse, but lacks the speed required for show jumping.
We do recommend mods to give the horse his height and large hooves and legs. It is STRONGLY recommended that you download our template so that you can create the optimal War Horse.
